It's also really easy to play golf on the moon... once you get there.
The problem will be getting a comm program onto the IIgs and the proper
null-modem cable.
For info on tranfering files to your IIgs, read over the faq:
http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/A2FAQs2CONTENT.html#res
There is a whole section on telecom/file transfering. A couple of points:
-the 3.5" and 5.25" disks used by the IIgs are not compatible with PC
drives. There is no way to use your PC drives to get files onto disks your
IIgs can read, with the exception of rare cards which you are highly
unlikely to have.
-if you have access to a Mac that's not too old or too new, you can get
files onto disks your IIgs can read. Unfortunately, there are complications.
Read up on Binscii and Shrinkit in the faq.
-the easiest way is to get someone to mail you a disk with Shrinkit,
Binscii, and a comm program (Agate is an old shareware Apple II com program
with Zmodem that you can download from the archives.)
The way I did it was with a Mac. I downloaded the ProDos disk images from
Apple and used DiskCopy (another free dl from Apple) to create the set of
floppy disks. Then I followed the instructions in the faq for creating
Binscii, used that to extract Shrinkit, and then used Shrinkit to extract
Agate. There are all kinds of hurdles with forked files and file types to
get over (covered in the faq) but the challenge was part of the
experience...
