I beg to differ. Any Mac can use parity SIMMs. The Mac architechure just
ignores the 9th parity bit. What you can't use on Mac Plus, SE and Mac II, IIx
(and a couple other old Macs) is the SIMMs with the 2 or 3 chip layout. Those
machines don't like them for some reason. You have to use the SIMMs with the 8
or 9 chip layout.
Also I have found that the Apple LaserWriter IIf and IIg logic board does
not like the 4 Meg SIMMs with the 8 or 9 chip layout. It don't work at all,
but works great when you use the 4 Meg SIMMs with the 2 or 3 chip style. Go
figure.
