IIgs and Xebec scsi card

Found a IIgs today in the school district's surplus warehourse that had a xebec
scsi card and an 8 meg ram card with 30 pin simm slots. What do I have to do to
get a hard drive on this thing. I connected an external 40 meg hard drive as
scsi ID 0, it is terminated, but I do not know what program to use to format
it. I tried the advanced disk utility in gs/os 6.0.1 but it only picks up the
floppy drives. What to do..
