Actually, Paul, it can't. If there are patented chips, it's protected, if it's
off the shelf stuff, as with the ][ and the PC, it isn't piracy to buy those
same items and assembly them in the same way. Apple defended it's machine by
suing those who pirated the firmware, which as we both know is (usually)
software on a ROM. IBM and later Apple were cloned by those who "white roomed"
the process, and, here at least, that is perfectly legal, like clones of
Visicalc or Lotus 123.
