SHK and 2Mg

I've seen these files all over the net for Apple IIgs (and other Apple
IIs), but I cant for the life of me get them to reliably transfer from
my Mac (with a floppy drive) to my IIgs.  What am I doing wrong?

1) I've found the instructions for modifying your browser to identify
these files (http://www.gwlink.net/geoff/IIdownload.html), but they
don't seem to work.  When I follow these instructions word for word (in
both IE and Netscape - even Netscape 3.04), it doesn't seem to change a
thing - the file loads in my browser window as a bunch of text.

2) Right-clicking (or control-click or clik-and-holding) the download
link then choosing Save Link As and saving (assuming these are binary
files) doesn't work. The files download, I transfer them, but they come
up corrupted.

Any help you be appreciated.  I have scoured the FAQs and can't seem to
find the exact info I need.  Lot's of info about what the file types are
and what IIgs programs work with them, but nothing I found on how to get
them from my Mac to the IIgs.
