Re: Apple II-Or Come on people, It's a 20 year old computer

You must be a totally ignorant fuck. There is simply no other explanation
that accounts for all the stupid useless drivel that we are supposed to take
for some kind of anti-apple2 advocacy.

For instance, even among modern PCs, raw megahertz means little or nothing.
And even when it does, a particularly clever piece of code can make up for
the inadequacy of the CPU.

Take into account that if these computers were not being used, they would be
landfill filler. Leaching who knows what kinds of chemicals into your
drinking water. Hmmm. Maybe you do have an excuse, after all.

A modern computer is a feat of technological wizardry, to be sure. But have
you ever tried to learn to do ASM for one, with no other coding experience?
Why would I try to teach it to my nephew on a seriously kludged CPU by
intel, when I have this comparatively small, elegant CPU that would
otherwise go to waste? The same can be said of any higher level coding app
too.

I'm sure there are a great deal more rationales for "keeping the
pple][ alive" than the few I've supplied, so by all means, read the others
too. Someone will almost certainly point them out. But sit down and think
clearly about this, we are being constructive, making something useful that
would otherwise be junk. Many people who might not be able to afford "a
computer that's NOT old enough to cost $1.00 at a thrift store." For them,
this is as good as it gets. All told, the world is a better place in many
ways, because of our hobby.

So I ask you, just who here is being an ass, and who the wise?
