The advice you received on this card is accurate.  I Think that this drive
cards is the "Liron" 3.5 card, and it is intended to be used with the
white-cased "Unidisk 3.5" disk drive, not with the grey-encased Apple 3.5
drive.

Apple devotees should buy and use the APPLE IIC PLUS, which is directly
capable of using the platinum grey 3.5 disk drive.  Its internal mechanism
is the guts for the platinum 3.5 drive.  I got a IIC Plus at a thrift
shop; its drive was jammed; I merely swapped the innards from an external
platinum 3.5 drive, and it WORKS!  The IIC Plus also has an internal power
supply, IIGS-layout of keyboard, and a 4 MHz accelerator.  This is now my
favorite portable for typing.  Long live the IIC PLUS!
