Just a note: you're thinking of trademarks, not copyrights. Trademarks 
are not enforceable if they're left undefended for a certain amount of 
time, or a certain amount of violations (I'm not sure which - I think it 
varies depending on circumstances); copyrights, on the other hand, are 
_always_ enforceable, unless they are explicitly waived by the copyright 
holders.
