Not so! Check with an attorney. This topic came up at the introduction of the
//e in Cupertino. I was one of several user group residents invited for the
roll out. At that time Apple was introducing ProDOS and the issue of the
copyright on DOS 3.3 came up. An APPLE attorney is the one that pointed out
that (1) yes, the copyright remains, (2) It is not enforceable if every known
violation is not pursued. In the case of DOS 3.3, it failed to meet copyright
standards because no copyright notice appears when the software is booted and
no copyright notice is included in the OS.
