I have often told people to turn the interrupt switch on (sw 2-6).
In your case you may want to turn it off. This switch is only
useful on an enhanced 2e (with an interruptable card) and the GS.

I use 8-n-1 on my systems with little problem, but I don't use
Zlink. Instead, I use Proterm 2.
