Sorry to hear that! Well, nothing can last forever. I know that I take some
precautions such as:
a.) not storing the Apple stuff where I wouldn't live (ie, sleep). It's all
either in my room (book shelves) or in closets (on the same floor).
b.) making a checkup every few months

The two things I worry about are fire damage and mouse damage. I've already
had one mouse get inside of a Power Mac 9500, and I don't even want to see
the mess that a mouse would make in a box of books/manuals!

Hopefully your disks will still be OK.
