Someone I know had a bunch of books (mostly paperbacks) stored in
cardboard boxes in the garage.  It turns out that termites are pretty
fond of pulp paper products.  Many of the books were basically reduced
to dust.

Everything I have stored on magnetic media got converted to CiderPress-
accessible format.  Books, magazines, manuals, notes... those are
harder.
