You certainly can post newbie questions here.  You could get a system disk but
what you really need to do it simply buy programs, or get programs.   Most will
simply boot from a floppy disk, they will carry the OS on the disk.

You can get a hard drive and use a launcher like prosel or ezdrive to launch
programs from your hd.

But right now you need programs that a simply bootable from you floppy drive. 
The drive that is spinning is trying to find the disk to startup.
