Apple should not only think of Intel.  They should look
to Intel's competitors like AMD.  After all, the company
that produced the first 1Ghz x86 processor is something
to be paid attention to.  AMD has also capitalized on the
200Mhz bus which neither Motorolla or Intel has done.
