I think it is possible that at a few points apple could have done better if it
could have kept up with demand. Having multiple producers allowed the wintel
system to keep up with demand. Plus the competition between the two kept costs
down and encouraged creative innovation, esp. in how to make things cheaper.
Price certainly has had a lot to do in Apple's lack of market share.
But there were times when some Apple products were in great demand, people
became excited but almost every time production got behind and many people
opted for the computer they could get rather than the computer they wanted.
