I don't have any experience of SMODEM, but I did once modify Kermit
to run on an Appli-Card Apple II CP/M system with the good ol' Apple
Comm Card as a serial card (the Comm Card had ben strapped to use
1200/4800 bps instead of the standard 110/300 bps). Basically it's a
matter of understainding how your serial card works, how to access it
from your Z80, and where to apply the needed patches in your comm
program - since you have ASM source available, the latter should
provide no problem.
