     You mean like "Shrinkit File Transfer" or something similar? No; there is
not any special way to transfer ShrinkIt files.

     ADT is fine for moving 5.25" Apple II diskettes to PC (as .dsk files) and
.dsk files to your Apple II (where they get turned back into diskettes). On the
other hand, that's all ADT does. It is dedicated to transferring 5.25" disks.
It can not transfer individual Text, picture, .zip, ..., or ShrinkIt files. If
you want to transfer a file using ADT, it has to be 'on' a 5.25" disk or 5.25"
disk image.


     To transfer ShrinkIt files you use a NULL modem connection between two 
general purpose telecom programs-- like Agate on the Apple and HyperTerm on the
PC. For nearly all single file or batch transfers, the preferred protocol is
Z-modem.

     As with ADT, you want to use 'hardware handshaking' (sometimes called
"hardware flow control"); the data format should be 8-N-1 (8 data bits, No
parity, 1 stop bit); and, the baud rates must match. (For a IIe with a Super
Serial Card, baudrate would probably be either 9600 or 19,200.)

     Apple II telecom programs (like Agate) are available on .dsk disk images
from Ground and Tarnover. So is ShrinkIt v3.4 as well as a version of ShrinkIt
