It's simple....

One side is still trying to make a living off a dead platform machine. They
want to protect copyrighted material to the letter of the law regardless of
whether the auther of the software cares what happens to his/her software.

The other side believes that the software should be made available to the users
who can no longer buy legitimate copies of the software. They can't buy copies
because it is no longer produced, nor sold.

Pick a side, but put on your asbestos Union Suit as the opposition is sure to
flame your behind if they don't like your post (ie if it's in opposition to
their position).
