Well, it may actually be Flash Rom, but the card I have claimed
Ram. It is designed to write a finite number of times, in the
thousands, but still limited. The cards were used for many PC
cameras as image storage and in some older laptops for ramdisk
usage. This is how I got mine, for a laptop PC ramdisk which used
MsDos 5 and the pcmcia drivers. It supports the standard Dos file
system very well. I don't have the specifics for the write methods
so you may be right there, as they are more limited than standard
ram.

I just think they offer a slight advantage over the standard ROM
as they can be re-written. And at one time, the cards were very
available for a reasonable price.
