This may be obvious but any RAM testing program that is hosted on the target
has a similar weakness.
If your RAM is so bad that you cannot run GS/OS then use that as your test.
Start twiddling chips until you get GS/OS working. I suppose some knowledge
of the most likely chips to twiddle would speed things up. I have no idea
about that. If some or all of the RAM resides on cards, perhaps you can
switch that out, or remove it temporarily.
Another idea is to pull all unnecessary cards since they affect address &
data lines.
