Stretch the graphics double height and then print in condensed
mode. IIGS page layout programs can do this automatically.
AWGS paint module can do this because the draw tools are
resolution independent. Platinum Paint users are out of luck
because this program's paint tools are resolution dependent.
Stretch the picture and you get jagged results.

A good point. This is not typical of csa2, however. When I
answer a question, I always point out the possible solutions
even if the solutions include the possibility of buying new
software or hardware. For the IIGS, I've found that about
half the time and often more, new users email back to tell
me that they have bought new hardware and software and
are surprised at how good the IIGS must have been for its
day.

I attribute this to the fact that unlike some other 15 year old
computers, the IIGS was so ahead of its time that it still
has a magnetic effect on people. In fact, I still use the IIGS
to do word processing and page layout when my PC is not
available. I have them both connected to the same high
resolution printer so the output is the same on both.

It may be 15 years old, but it can still be useful. I used
the IIGS to write all my papers in high school and college
and they came out just as good as others who were using
Macs and PCs (and the same printer types) to write
theirs. In high school I had an Epson dot matrix but that
was ok since it was what everyone else was using. In
college when others dumped their A2s I saved my money
by getting JUST a new printer for my IIGS. I didn't get a
PC until after the 486 revolution. Everyone else wasted
money going from PC to XT to 286 to 386. If it were not
for the web, I probably would not have gotten another
computer until after the Pentium came out. Not that
I ever used Intel CPUs. All my "486" and "Pentium" level
computers used non-Intel products which were cheaper
and offered greater performance.
