Hmm, I don't have my manual handy, but I have a //e card on an LC520 logic
board installed in my Color Classic, and the card runs perfectly with OS
7.5.5. I expect the recommendation has to do with how the card's software
won't run with system 7's 32 bit addressing turned on. That limits you to
7.5.5 since 7.6 and up won't run without 32 bit addressing. It also means
some later boxes with compatible slots won't support the card since they
don't allow turning off 32 bit addressing.

Bottom line: if you have an pizza box LC series or some of the all in one
LC/Performas with an '030 or under, or a Color Classic, no sweat. You will
find that the speed of the box determines the //e's speed. I took out the
CC logic board with its 16 MHz clock and crippled 16 bit bus and put the
LC520 board in. It has a 32 bit bus and 25 MHz clock, and //e software runs
a good deal faster. I'd say Mac software is about twice as fast after that
swap as well.
