Re: Slotless Transwarp?

Whether it's a useless project or not, it still sounds intriguing.
There is a Dell pentium system in a small desktop case which got
around this problem by adapting the slots to mount the cards
sideways. It is an unusual computer to work on also. Of course, it
has a custom fitted motherboard with a bus adapter on it which
holds an L shaped bus. This bus can hold 3 ISA cards or 2 ISA and
1 PCI cards. This is how Dell got around the limitation.

If you like tinkering with this type of electronics, you could
probably make your own adapters. I think you could make them to
fit at a 45 degree angle and gain some necessary space. Unless you
are trying to mount the motherboard into a flat laptop style case.
For something like this, you could probably use ribbon cable on a
slot connector and move the new connector wherever you need it.

On the downside, there may be signals on the bus which are not
strong enough to stretch that far. I seem to recall reading about
this somewhere. So this is something you may need to check into.
