Help with getting s/w onto my IIc+
Hello, I just got a IIc+ from a local high school that didn't want it
anymore. I managed to get two additional disk drives and a mouse for it, so
there's some great potential to have some fun with it. Well, I was able to
get ProDos from Apple, by downloading a disk image. I then tried to get some
software to run on it, which I downloaded from the Caltech archives, but
they are in .shk format, which I apparently need Shrinkit34.bsc to
decrompress, but in order to use Shrinkit34.bsc, I need to use binscii.exe,
however I can't get it to run. In its directions, it says to type
exec binscii.exe
in order to make a .sys file of the same name, which will be able to make
sense of Shrinkit34.bsc, which will be able to make sense of other programs.
I'm not able to execute the exec command, though for some reason, and the
IIc+ tells me that it's because of a FILE TYPE MISMATCH, which I assume
means that it has the wrong three-letter filetype. Currenly, after
transferring the file from my Mac, it has the file type of $00, according to
the CAT command, and it should apparently be something else. I'm pretty new
to ProDos, so I really don't know much of what's going on here. I appreciate
any help. email me at the above address, please. Bye.
