GS self test error 05012A00 means that the Speed Switching test has been
failed and that the machine is stuck in "Slow" mode.
IIgs's with a ZipGS accelerator installed commonly fail this test if the
"Counter Delay" DIP switch is set OFF (the usual default setting). In these
cases, there is nothing wrong with the IIgs or the ZipGS accelerator. (The
switch can be set to ON in order to pass the Speed test and finish the
diagnostics.)
I have not heard of a similar problem with Transwarps. Maybe if you turn
ON the Transwarp, the Speed test will behave better.
The usual reason a good IIgs system becomes crash prone is system noise
on the power busses. ROM 3's are supposed to have reasonably good Slot power
lines; so, if you are getting noise spikes, they most likely originate along
the skimpy +5, GND, and +12 leads which come from the standard power supply.
The cure is to reduce the current load (by pulling some power sucking
Slot board) or to fatten the +5, GND, and +12 leads.
Maybe there is some other reason your IIgs has become crash prone. If
you think it may be related to power problems see the information at
