Um, there is no difference in ProDOS 8 used on 8 bit boot disks as opposed
to that installed in a GS/OS system. The system does make some changes to
the code between load and execute time, e.g. making the extended quit call
in ProDOS 8 functional. The SYS files are the same.

As far as ATINIT goes, that is merely a file that loads at a certain address
and has a certain file type which I have forgotten. You can put code in there
to do anything you want, but it's intended to set up Appletalk, as the
name implies. To use it for other purposes would prevent users from using
Appletalk, and using versions older than 1.4. The latter is hardly a limit-
ation though.

Also, there is no error generated if ATINIT isn't present. Other errors,
including the file's having the wrong type, will cause a fatal error.
