I find the kernel level HFS works quite well. With this compiled
into the kernel and the FSTAB file setup correctly, Linux will
treat the HFS volume just like any other. You can then access the
files with any file manager.
However the utilities in the HFS package are useful for creating
the HFS partition properly.
I have my system setup so the HFS volume is not automatically
mounted. This allows use from KEGS and helps to prevent corruption
from to different systems accessing the volume. I also have a HFS
(Mac) formatted CD-ROM disk with Apple II programs I access on
occasion and this setup helps.
