Joe, the reason I asked is that I have had DeskJets just sit there, nothing,
nada, and the solution was a straight and simple one.

Sometimes a software setting, such as an interface code (Control-I 0N
..zero-N..) in AppleWorks, a dip switch setting (off on on on), or the most
obvious but often missed Control Panel setting, to Your Card for the slot the
Grappler is in (usually 1), is the simple solution.

Also, some models of DeskJets don't have the ASCII (text) character set as the
default, and it must be set manually, either with dip switches (on older
DeskJets), or through the software. Current (new) DeskJets don't need this, but
older ones do. The model number of the DeskJet would be helpful.
