I'm guessing when you say they save to disk that you mean you
do a 'save as' download. It is critical that the browser uses
the right method to download the file. You might try an FTP
site and see if the files work ok from there.

I pretty much use Gscii exclusively and have had very little
problem with it. As an alternate test, try the program BSCIT,
it is an 8-bit program but works very well.
