That happens when the option key is depressed. So this key seems to
be stuck.
Sometimes, just depressing it and releasing it solves everything. If
not, you should remove the key cap and clean it.
If the problem remains, check if the keyboard is really the culprit
by disconnecting it and starting up the computer without the
keyboard. If that works, you will need to find a new key (or an
entire keyboard).

While you wait for a replacement key, you can do a lot of work on you
computer using just the mouse and VideoKeyboard.
