need info about 10MB Widget drive

A problem for the Lisa freaks:


I need some info about the Apple Widget drive that was used in the Lisa
2/10 and XL:

How does the computer talk to the drive? Is it the same protocol the
Profile uses ($01, $55, CMD, ...)? And if so, would it be possible to
use a Widget as a  Profile substitute (external drive or with a ///)?
A Lisa is no good test platform, therefore I want to connect the drive
to my pc's printer port.

Who does the low-level formatting? An user program, the Z8 on the
controller board or the Z8 on the servo board?

Does anybody have the lowlevel formatting tool and/or alignment
instructions for the head amp?
