Re: Freeware editor for Apple IIe w/ ProDOS or ProntoDOS?

It looks like AOL is still taking 2-3 days to release posted messages to AOL
readers. Let's hope this is fixed soon.

I haven't looked at Asimov in about a year, but the last time I looked they had
AppleWorks 2 and AppleWorks 5.1, both illegal uploads. The AW 2 would not work
at all now, whether you have a clock or not. It will not accept a date of 00 on
startup, even if it is read by your clock (a problem that we can easily fix for
legal owners).

The AW 5.1 would work okay as long as the user has more than 128k of memory,
and doesn't use the two features which are non-Y2K. Those two features are
pretty advanced, so the likelihood of encountering them is pretty small. Again,
both problems are easily fixed, but not for Asimov downloaders.

Naturally, I recommend neither, since no matter what anybody says, they are
illegal uploads (of a nonethess abandoned product). As we've seen recently, you
never know when an original owner is going to resurface.
