Like you, I don't consider myself an average user. I prefer Linux
on my personal system. I use Windows on my wife's system and I
design database with Access 97. So I find a use for just about All
OS's.

For Linux, I prefer KEGS. Which I also have on a laptop which is on
loan from a friend while I'm off work with back problems.

For my wife, Windows works fine for what she does. Although it's
98 SE now. And every time I have to work with Windows and the PC's
'plug and play' hardware, I curse MS and Gates and Windows. But it
serves the purpose it was created for. Keep it simple for the users
and make them take it to a tech when it breaks. I'm too hard headed
so I do my own tech work.
