Apple made the ROM 01's mouse work the same as the Applemouse II card software
wise. That was for the benefit of people doing the //e upgrade and wanting to
reuse their mouse card. Apple nixed the upgrade when ROM 3s came out, so they
made the mouse work like it really should have all along.
