AST video capture software

I have AST visioneffects software version 1.01.  It is extremely
unstable.  Save more than 1 file and it beeps and freezes.  Try to
digitize with the VCR turned off or not in PLAY mode and it does the
same thing.  I am running it from a hard drive.  Maybe that is the
problem.  I should try running it from its disk, but 3.5's are so slow.

Is there a more recent version, a patch that will fix the problems, or
perhaps another video digitizer program that will work with the AST
card???
