The file sharing will work with MacOS 7.0+, you just need to make sure
you install the appropriate software on the IIGS. It's not installed as
a standard option. Phonenet cable should work just great...I use a
mixture of Apple's localtalk and phonenet on my network. And there is
nothing special on the Mac end that you need to do other than enable
file sharing and make sure that the hard drive you want share has been
shared...just because file sharing it turned on, doesn't mean that any
and all drive are automatically shared. Select the drive(s) and under
file File menu on the Mac should be an option called sharing. You don't
need to format anything as ProDOS on the Mac for generic file sharing,
the IIGS will access any HFS/HFS+ partitions just fine.

There's two different HD20 drives...one which runs off of the floppy port
and one that runs off of the SCSI port. So they probably hooked up a SCSI
variant of that drive.
