No, but ProDOS 8 was derived from SOS. Consider it
"SOS Lite." SOS and ProDOS 8 share a file system.
(quite unfair GS/OS reads this file system through a
"ProDOS" FST since SOS was first, the FST should
really be the SOS FST and the file system should be
called SOS).
All the advanced features of SOS like drivers have
been implemented in a far more advanced form in
GS/OS.
At the time, however, SOS was the most advanced
DOS available on any personal computer (not
including UNIX since that didn't run on PERSONAL
computers of the day).
