     There may be nothing wrong with the system. Try turning ON the hard drive
and letting it spin for about 10 seconds before switching ON the computer.

     If the above does not get things working, you could pull the controller
card (with power OFF). Then, try powering up and booting stuff from diskette to
check computer operation-- like play a few games, see if you can type in and
save simple programs, etc..

     On the HD controller card, you can scooch up and resocket any socketted
IC's. Clean the card contacts with alcohol. (Doing the same for other Slot
cards-- at least cleaning the card contacts-- is a good idea.)

     Once you know your IIe is working without the hard disk, with power OFF
insert the cleaned HD controller card and give booting from HD another try. If
there is still no boot, you can do a Control-Reset as suggested by Jon and boot
a ProDOS diskette via PR#6. From ProDOS you can see if your HD can be
CATALOGed, files can be LOADed from the HD, etc..
