I think Penman may be like many of us who prefer to use a 'handle'
while writing our messages. I developed this habit many years ago
while running a BBS and participating in many message bases.

For me it's about individuality. Many people remember my handle
just because it's unique. Since my name is fairly common, they
would probably forget it.
