I don't have a Grappler either, but I asked a number of folks whose
technical expertise I trust and who have been using DeskJets for years and
the consensus was ON, OFF, OFF, ON. 

Every single person who I've suggested try those settings wrote back to say, 
"Thank you, thank you, thank you; my DJ works great now."
