OK.  Don't you love confusingly similar product names?

In any case, this doesn't change my argument much.  I don't know exactly
what transmission format is used by IRTalk, but it is probably a simple
"zero bit becomes a short pulse" conversion of a normal serial port.
You could theoretically support this with an external converter on the
IIgs serial port, assuming the data rate is the same as LocalTalk
(230400 bps).

If not, then you have software problems - the LLAP driver would have to
be patched or replaced with something that adjusted the behaviour of the
serial port as appropriate.
