I wouldn't bet on being able to do Localtalk through your G3's "serial
port"...Never tried it myself, but it doesn't sound like something the
Mac would let ya "get away with" ;)

I would say the easiest way would be to buy the 1.44MB USB floppy
drive for your Mac and use an el-cheapo old-azz Mac as a go-between
for copying files from 800K IIgs disks to 1.44MB Mac disks.

Another way would be to get a Localtalk-to-Ethernet device of some
sort (like a Shiva FastPath), and Appletalk the two computers
together.

The cheapest way would be to use a null-modem connection between the
two computers and use standard comm programs to Xmodem your files
across.  This would be a pain in the butt in the long-term, though.
Maybe it wouldn't be too bad if you sent a large quantity of IIgs
files at once by putting them all in one big honkin' .SHK or .ZIP or
something, and Xmodeming THAT.
