Re: 2E - 3.5" drive question



Speaking of old drives, I have a 5.25 drive which I purchased real cheap

in the mid to late 80's. I think the drive was from Oak Technologies,
but the logo on the front looks like a maple leaf. It's been a fair
drive but
after a couple of years it developed a quirk. When reading from the
drive
(and maybe writing too) it would write a segment of garbage to the
floppy.
I never investigated this much since the drive worked fine as long as
the
floppies were write protected. At the time I couldn't afford to replace
it so
I just used it as a read only floppy. This worked for me since It was
mostly
used for Zbasic programming and playing Kobayoshi Maru.
