Re: CMS SCSI card
That exact setup works fine for me. You'd be surprised how much space 32M
is for an 8/16bit machine. I mean, GS/OS takes a couple megs with all the
accessories and AppleWorks 5.1 is only a meg or so. You can put most all of
the HD runnable games on the same partition and still have plenty left over.
The only other "limitation" is that you have only 2 partitions active at any
one time, as device 1 and 2 on a given slot for a total of 64M. You select
which partitions you want active with the bootup utility. This also allows
you to boot from any partition, so you could have ProDOS-only, GS/OS, or
ProDOS 16/ProSEL, or just a bootable Leasure Suit Larry.
The manual suggests slot 7, but I have mine in slot 1 so it will boot
floppies before the hard disk if they're in the drive. It doesn't seem to
interfere with the serial port on that slot either, which is nice because I
also have a modem and an AppleTalk connection to a Classic II "fileserver".
I thought it wouldn't work because it's only a ROM1, but I haven't seen a
problem.
Also, there was a disk I dug up for it, but I don't remember using it. It's
just a ProDOS utility called, oddly enough "SCSI.UTILITY". I'd be happy to
send anyone an image that needs it.
