     It sounds like you may have changed the boot drive-- like modified some setting
and told the computer to boot from diskette. If you know a way to get to the Control
Panel-- e.g. hold down some key upon powering up or press some keys after you get
the question mark icon-- you can probably change the boot drive setting back.

     As for being lost in Apple World, you still kind of are. This is a newsgroup
concerned with the original Apple II series-- also fun, inexpensive computers, Plus,
you can get color! A Mac newsgroup you could try is comp.sys.mac.system.
