Actually, it is a 32 channel chip (32 oscillators = sound
generators).  The 32 are commonly paired into 16 for
"thicker" sounding voices.  One of these paired voices
is used for timing, so you are left with 15.  At least
that's how the Ensoniq is used by Apple's tools.  For
software that does not follow the rules, anything goes.
