Yes, there are certain LocalTalk to Ethernet adapters that will allow
you to access MacOS shared folders or AppleShare servers through an
ethernet network. By the way, the terminology for this type of
networking is as follows. LocalTalk and Ethernet are the physical
means of moving the data, AppleTalk is a data transfer protocol.
AppleTalk over a LocalTalk network is still called AppleTalk but
AppleTalk over an Ethernet network is called EtherTalk. I could be
wrong about this, though.
At KFest '99, my IIgs was connected to Avila's ethernet network
through one of those adapters and I was able to see other people's
shared Mac folders and even Dave Miller's printer.

Yes, you should be able to do this but you will still most likely need
one of the patched netatalk packages that allow Apple IIs to connect.
