Pretend to ask for a battery for a Mac LC. ;-)
They are the same battery. Clip the leads close to the old
battery. Then use a soldering iron to solder the new
battery to the old leads.
Be quick! Heat the battery too long and it'll explode. I
had a watch battery that I soldered for another project
explode on me. Luckily, I was wearing safety goggles
and the battery was a button cell so it was tiny.
Another option is to find a dead Mac, desolder the
battery socket, solder the socket to the old leads
on the IIGS motherboard, and put the battery in the
socket.
Bettery yet, go back to Radio Shack and see if they
have "battery sockets for Mac LC" too.
