Several years ago, Sun Remarketing had brand new
Platinum IIe units for sale at a price of $99 USD. They
also had new in the box ROM 3 IIGS units. However,
I think they are all sold out now except for refurbished
units.
If you DO get a new in the box IIGS, you must open it
at least once to remove the battery. Otherwise, it'll
one day leak and ruin your carefully preserved IIGS.
Naturally, a new in the box IIe is "chemically safe"
since it has no battery.
