You talk about a compatible driver You can obtain the real HP driver at
www.hp.com
You don't have to turn on appletalk because the Deskjet is not an printer
with an appletalk interface.
But i think you have hooked up a wrong printer Apple computers don't have
parallel ports
If you have a parallel printer and I think you do (because a Deskjet 340 is
one of the early day's and back then we talked about Deskwriters in the
Apple enviremont) you must have a serial-parallel converter cable with the
right driver.
